Energy

I do not support Cap and Trade Legislation. I do not believe that mankind has brought about Global Warming nor am I even sure that we are on a warming trend. While there are many prominent politicians and others who wring their hands over this, the bigger issues is actually about saving energy, keeping the price low and maintaining a clean and healthy environment.

This plan is very easy and accessible and it aims to save you money, unlike Cap and Trade which only looks to change your behavior by punishing necessary energy use.

We have come a long way from the 70's when we had an energy crisis and looked to the SUN for help. However, the prices for energy have continued to rise pretty high anyway.

While there has yet to be found a way to build a solar energy plant, there are now many ways to use solar energy in a very direct manner. When you think about it, in the end the goal is to get the power to you.

My legislation would require all federal facilities, offices, buildings, courthouses, jails, public housing, etc, to implement solar energy immediately, While it might not drive power hungry devices, it can take care of the more passive energy needs and when you add it up, you get a large number in terms of energy savings.

A federal tax credit for the purchase of solar panels and use in homes and buildings.

All cellphones and laptops will have solar cells. These two devices have added greatly to energy consumption in the last 20 years. If they have solar cells that keep them charged up, it should lower the amount of time they need to be plugged in to be charged up.

There will be a Four Elements Energy provision which will give aid to states that can harness their natural resources to provide energy without harming the environment.

We will ease some rules so that we can get more Nuclear plants up and running. Nuclear power today is very safe. France has used nuclear power for years and properly disposed of the waste in a proper and safe manner which has been documented.

Investment in a national rapid railroad system so that we can get more trucks off the roads so that we can deliver goods quicker and in a more energy efficient system. Payment for building the whole system will require and alliance of both the government and private industry.

Since we are now partners with our automobile companies, I will push for more hybrid cars and electric cars. We should continue to provide credits for the purchase of these cars in a program similar to the Clunker program, but with some major changes so that it does not become a huge wasteful failure.

A 35% cut in all Federal Taxes for any energy consumption such as utilites and gasoline.

A major restructuring of the electrical grid similar to the one that was done with the gas delivery system which should realize a savings return of 40% to the nation and then the consumers.

As you can see this is a very easy plan and will be universally embraced and hopefully implemented.
